Blind Signal is a celebration of Sound art as a possible platform for connection between distant geographies, communities and cultural backgrounds.
Since 2016, Blind Signal is dedicated to the exploration of electroacoustic, contemporary and experimental musics.
The aims are to curate and organise site-specific acoustics project by promoting collaborative compositions and artist exchanges across multiple geographies.
New artistic creations born from exchange and closer collaborative networks within different geographies will allow supported artists to expand their personal creative trajectories whilst bringing exciting new sound worlds to audiences.
Blind Signal works in collaboration with Die Wasserspeicher von Prenzlauer Berg - künstlerische Raumerkundungen .
From 2016 to 2018, the evenings in Berlin were hosted in the Galiläakirche — Jugendwiderstandsmuseum in the Rigaerstraße, turned into a museum depicting its history of resistance that has taken place over the past century. Blind Signal aimed to allow artists to perform and experiment inside this special venue, with its unique acoustic qualities. The church embraces two architectural temporalities, from early 20th century and the recent years. A metallic structure frames the stage and main church area, holding lights and a surround sound system inside the main room. Combining the church’s natural resonances with the surround sound set-up and intimate church atmosphere, artists had a rich palette of sound and atmosphere to work with.
